Can I tan over fake tan?
We love our fake tans! Where would we be without them? But come summertime we might want to give our skin a break from the constant buffing and applying and get a natural tan that will last a few months! But the question is: How do you transition from fake tan to a natural tan? And can you still tan if you have fake tan on? Read on for answers and top tips…
Is it a good idea to get a fake tan before going on holiday?
Yes! Especially if you have fair skin that is prone to burning. Fake tan will not stop you getting a natural tan, it will simply act as an extra layer between your skin and the sun, and so the effects of the sun’s rays will not be as strong. This way you can slowly ease your skin into tanning, and by the time your fake tan has started to fade, you will already have developed a good base tan.
How do I make sure I don’t get a patchy tan while I transition from fake to natural tan?
There are 2 really easy things you can do here:
- Keep your skin moisturised (dry skin will get flaky and patchy, and once that happens it’s hard to reverse!)
- Use a tan accelerator while you’re in the sun so that you can develop a natural tan quickly, before any uneven colouring starts to show up as a result of your fake tan fading away.
Carrot Sun tan accelerators will do both of these things. They’re incredibly moisturising and will keep skin hydrated long after you’ve showered the product off. They will also stimulate your skin to tan faster than you’d expect (check out tan lines after just 20-30min!).
